Opened in 1926 as a vaudeville theater, the historic Hollywood Theatre is a beautiful local cinema that shows a range of documentary, indie, art and classic films. Owned and operated by Film Action Oregon, a local organization devoted to promoting film creation and appreciation in the state, the theater is the group's main base of operations, hosting many of its film events and festivals. Located in the Central Northeast district of Portland, less than two miles east of the Lloyd Center, the theater gives its neighborhood, the Hollywood District, its name.
